Welcome to the new PR+Marketing blog — Tales from the Digital Campfire.
We want “Tales” to be just that: your stories about the changing nature of PR and marketing. Think of this site as an online version of the PR+MKTG Camp. Like any good campfire, it’s a place to tell stories, forge bonds, and share successes and missed opportunities. And of course enjoy a virtual marshmallow or two.
The tagline is “Igniting Connections for the PR and Marketing Community.” Igniting of course ties back to a campfire. Connections address both ideas and people. Community is about fostering relationships and a common. And it is both PR and marketing because separating the two is growing ever more difficult to do.
Postings will discuss topics raised at the several Camps being held this year in Seattle, Chicago and Toronto, among other cities, as well as some insights gained at the New York and Atlanta camps.
It will feature insights from moderators, attendees and professionals like you on how social media is impacting our profession. For now, the focus will be on social media storytelling, PR/marketing alignment, metrics/analytics and ROI. It will also include lessons learned, outcomes reached and connections made during the Camp’s interactive sessions.
In time, topics will evolve to reflect the interests of the community. While Tales will spotlight PR+MKTG Camp, you don’t have to attend one of the camps to participate and share your insights.
In short, Tales from the Digital Campfire is a place to boast, commiserate, and vent. More broadly, it is intended to chronicle what professionals in both marketing and PR are encountering day to day on the job.
So join with us as members of the campfire in the PR and marketing community. Blog or comment here with your thoughts and experiences.
Welcome.
